Organic PCB and Inorganic PCB |
The organic substrate consists of paper impregnated with phenolic resin or epoxy resin, polyimide, cyanate ester, BT resin etc. impregnated non-woven cloth or glass cloth layers. The use of these substrates depends on the physical characteristics required for PCB applications, such as operating temperature, frequency or mechanical strength. |

Inorganic substrate mainly includes ceramic and metal materials, such as aluminum, soft iron, and copper. The use of these substrates is usually dependent on the need for heat dissipation. In addition to soft iron, inorganic substrates provide flux paths for floppy motor drives. |
